One of the Going Places groups has arranged a tour of Warnham Park. The Park is the home of Jonathan and Caroline Lucas. He and his son Charles have agreed to give us a talk on the history of the park and the family who established it.

There is a charge of £10 per head which will be given to a charity of the owner’s choice. So, it would be nice if we could get a good number of people to come along. You do not have be a member of this group to attend this outing.

Warnham Park is the home of the Lucas family. There has been Lucas in Warnham since 1865 when the first Charles Lucas bought Warnham Court as a country estate. They were in residence there until 1947 and established the deer park with the famous red deer.

Meet at Drew’s Barn in Warnham Park by 10:00. If you can car share it will help as it is the rutting season which means we can’t park outside the barn, there is a compound where we can park.

They do not have a coffee shop so u3a will be doing the refreshments using the kitchen in the barn.

Directions: from the A24 at the Robin Hood roundabout, on entering Robin Hood Lane turn immediately right and then left into the deer park. Continue on the road which bears right and you will see signs for the parking.
